The IDM Digital Marketing Council
The IDM Digital Marketing Council comprises senior digital marketing practitioners from client and agencies who meet regularly to share views and experiences on the latest trends and challenges surrounding digital marketing.
The primary objective of the council is to assist with ongoing development of the IDM’s training portfolio thereby ensuring delivery of the most comprehensive, up-to-date and relevant teaching in digital marketing.

Steve Kemish F IDM, Director, Cyance (CHAIR)
Steve Kemish F IDM, Director at data & digital marketing specialists, Cyance, is a multi award-winning marketer and has been passionate about digital marketing since 1997, having worked both client-side and agency. He and his team work with clients to help them realise the potential of digital marketing and to help deliver results.
Passionate about using marketing principles to get the most out of the technology, when not with clients he is to be found speaking on the subject throughout the world on behalf of Cyance and the Institute of Direct Marketing, for whom he has lectured since 2004. Steve has worked with many brands on digital marketing, including: npower, Skype, ITV, IoD, Oracle, Cisco & British Airways.
Jonathan Bass M IDM, Managing Director, Incentivated Ltd
Jonathan co-founded own mobile data services agency having been a board member of Jazz FM plc (youngest ever non-executive director of a London listed company) and The Media Vehicle Group plc. At LEK Consulting worked on the launch of Prudential bank in the UK (later Egg). At Clear Channel International he was Group Development Director, responsible for strategy and acquisitions.
Ewan Carpenter M IDM, Global Digital Marketing Director, Future Group, GlaxoSmithKline
Ewan has worked in digital marketing for over ten years. His career started in television production in 1995 as assistant researcher and script reviewer. In 1997, he moved to Variety magazine working with film studios and production companies in emerging international film markets. With a new found passion for the creativity and innovation occurring within the burgeoning new media market, Ewan moved to digital agency Traffic Interactive in 1998 as Account Manager. He quickly rose to Account Director, directing the British Telecommunications and Royal Mail digital accounts for the newly formed Proximity London.
In 2002, Ewan moved to digital agency AKQA to become Account Director and then Group Account Director of the Orange account. At AKQA he led a team of 25 people working across Orange Brand, Business and Retail developing all digital communications.
In March 2005, Ewan joined Hall Moore CHI, part of CHI Advertising and after two years at the agency became Digital Partner of new name, CHI&Partners. He was instrumental in developing the agency’s integrated proposition through digital strategy and in developing award winning, results-driven digital communications.
In August 2008, Ewan moved to GlaxoSmithKline to take the role of Global Digital Marketing and Strategy Director for Consumer Healthcare. Here he is responsible for defining and implementing strategies for GSK’s portfolio of global brands.
Sarah Evans Dip IDM, Head of Mobile Internet Products, O2 UK
Sarah joined O2 in July 2008, following 10 years in Media and Communications roles delivering a wide range of digital and web based services. Of note, Sarah was responsible for delivering Film Download services for LOVEFiLM, Tiscali and Empire whilst at Arts Alliance Media; previous to that she was instrumental in growing and shaping ntl’s (now Virgin Media) Digital TV and Broadband consumer propositions. Sarah initially joined O2 to manage mobile advertising and content partner relationships. She is now responsible for leading O2’s mobile internet and applications strategy and running core mobile internet services including O2 Active, O2’s mobile web portal.
Richard Hartigan M IDM, Industry Manager - Technology, Google
Richard started his career with First Choice Holidays where he began working in product marketing within the winter sports division before moving into ecommerce, quickly becoming Online Marketing Manager for the mainstream business. He then moved to O2 where he managed a team of specialists focused at delivering best of class digital marketing across a myriad of channels. In his current role as an Industry Manager at Google, he provides consultancy to international technology brands, helping them to realise their potential within the digital space.
Danny Meadows-Klue, Chief Executive, Digital Strategy Consulting
Danny has been a leading figure in the UK internet industry since 1995. Consistently ranked as one of the top fifty most influential players, he now runs his own strategy and training consultancy, as well as retaining several directorships of digital of interactive marketing organisations.
As an interactive industry leader he has helped launch more than a dozen trade associations and participated in many more UK and European industry initiatives. He chaired the Interactive Advertising Bureau in the UK and Europe for four years as well as taking roles as their CEOs. He developed policy through various government advisory groups and policy boards and in education he has helped launch university courses in e-commerce, e-publishing and e-marketing and continues lecturing in interactive media management and marketing.
Maureen McDonagh, E-Commerce Director, Nectar.com
Maureen's current role is to drive forward core E-Commerce proposition on Nectar.com delivering revenue and ROI for key clients whilst investigating new opportunities in this space. Use multiple channels to drive acquisition, loyalty and change in customer behaviour and engagement to deliver targets.
Before joining Nectar, Maureen worked for News International responsible for all transactional strategic partnerships and created compelling marketing promotions for readers across digital, print and mobile.
In 2008, Maureen was a top 5 finalist in Marketing Week's Rising Star Award. Most recently, Maureen has completed a Leadership course at Harvard Business School.
Damon Reynolds, Consultant, Pink & Fluffy
Damon has been working at the forefront of revolutionary online products and services since he joined the launch team of Egg as Head of Design. After five years client-side developing the Egg online proposition, leading the brand implementation team, heading Egg's internal design agency and running innovation and customer experience initiatives, Damon made the move to consultancy.
Now specialising in online experience, brand/communications integration and usability, Damon's worked with innovative start-ups such as Zopa, Sosius and Garlik, and established organisations including Homechoice, Craghoppers and the BMJ. He is passionate about creating sites, services and communications that are simple, intuitive, rich and enjoyable to use.
Caroline Rolfe, Head of Online, Links of London
Caroline has been working in the luxury retail sector for over 10 years and for the majority of that time has been focused on Ecommerce. She spent over 7 years with Estee Lauder Companies playing a major role in launching their ecommerce business in the UK and establishing marketing and growth strategies for the brands. She has also worked in high street fashion for Arcadia group and most recently became Head of Online for Links of London. At Links she is responsible for the full scope of their Ecommerce business globally - including online marketing, multi-channel retailing, fulfillment and technology developments.
Dan Rosen, Managing Director AKQA Mobile, AKQA
Daniel Started his mobile career in 1995 as a client side marketer within Orange UK before moving into traditional media by joining Express Newspapers as Group Marketing Manager. In 2000 he launched 12snap UK’s mobile marketing business running pioneering campaigns with brands including McDonald’s, Coke, Proctor & Gamble, Cadbury, Walkers Snacks and MTV. Industry awards included New Media Age’s “Mobile Campaign of the Year “for McDonald’s and Orange’s “Small Business award for innovation” in 2002.
Associated Newspapers recruited Daniel early in 2004 as Managing Director of their new media subsidiary Greenland Interactive. A series of successful mobile initiatives were launched with clients including mobile operator 3, EMAP, ITV, Daily Mail, and GSK. Revenue growth exceeded 60% within 18 months, resulting in the company’s successful sale in September 2005.
In January 2006, Daniel launched AKQA Mobile. AKQA Mobile is the specialist mobile division of AKQA working with clients globally including Nike, Xbox, Coca Cola, Diageo, Cadbury, Yell.com Mobile, Target and Visa.
Daniel is the mobile columnist for Marketing Week magazine in the UK and regularly speaks at mobile marketing industry events.
Zoe Sands, Head of Digital EMEA, Juniper Networks
An experienced digital marketer since 1997. Zoe is passionate about optimising web-driven revenue and brand value for organisations from SMEs through to large enterprises. She currently works for Juniper Networks managing digital marketing for EMEA, responsible for evolving the content and capabilities of 6 localised country websites and developing digital marketing campaigns to drive brand awareness, engagement and demand generation. Prior to Juniper she worked for Cisco, Dialogic, The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Hyundai, Saab and Xerox. Zoe is a strong advocate of integrating social media and mobile capabilities into the marketing communications mix.
Louise White, Group Marketing Director, Incisive Media
Louise is group marketing director at Incisive Media and has been with the company in various senior marketing positions for the past 7 years. Incisive Media is the fastest growing B2B information providers, serving the financial and professional services markets globally. Louise is part of the management team who have seen the company grow from 200 to nearly 2000 employees in the last 5 years.
She has overall responsibility for the company's centralised marketing function, including the telesales, renewals, customer service, list research, circulation, product and event marketing teams. The international team is responsible for delivering 20% of company revenues and manages a portfolio of over 100 B2B magazines, newsletters and online products and 400+ events in the risk management, capital markets, insurance, investment, IT, legal and private equity markets.
In addition to her IMD Digital activities, Louise sits on the Specialist Information Publishers Association committee and runs their marketing networking group. Previously she has been chairman of the PPAi (Periodic Publishers Association Interactive) and an Association of Online Publishers board member. Before finding her natural home in B2B publishing, she worked at Pearson Education for 3 years as a books marketer.
