IDM announces Charity Ball in aid of NABS
Released 09 July 2002: The IDM today announced it will host a charity ball in aid of NABS, the charity for the marketing communications industry, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on 16 October 2002. The theme of the evening will be Stars in Your Eyes and the IDM is now inviting direct marketing companies to put forward their most talented staff for inclusion in the competition.
Professor Derek Holder, Managing Director of the IDM explains, “It has not been a great year for anyone. For NABS this downturn has meant that less has gone into its funds whilst more has been taken out. So the purpose of the party is two-fold: to lift the spirit of the direct marketing community and to raise funds for its key charity.”
Proceeds from all ticket sales will be passed on to NABS. Additional fundraisers on the night will include sponsorship and a charity auction. Agencies, suppliers and client companies are now being approached to contribute to the event to maximise the fundraising effort.
Kate Harris, Chief Executive of NABS says, “This is a great initiative from the IDM, and we are now going out to the wider direct marketing community to secure its commitment and support. I have no doubt that the evening will be a huge success.”
Promotion of the event kicks off with a streaming video spoof of the Stars in Your Eyes programme donated by event sponsors StreamCity Limited. The VMail™ they are producing in support of the event will feature a prominent figure from the direct marketing community. The evening itself will be hosted by Matthew Kelly look-alike, Anthony Jenkins.
