This year, Peter Simpson, Commercial Director of First Direct, Reimer Thedens, Chairman and CEO of OgilvyOne Worldwide, Elly Woolston, Deputy Chairman of the Charity Division at Proximity London, David Simmons, Director of Insurance Dialogue Ltd., and Nick Hutton, Managing Director of Morley's of Bicester were each presented with Honorary Fellowship by Bill Cockburn CBE, TD, President of the Institute of Direct Marketing and Chairman of Parity Group Plc.

A further, posthumous Honorary Fellowship was awarded to Trevor Hilliard, the late Managing Director of ARG Financial Services, who tragically died earlier this year.

An Honorary Fellow is an individual, from the UK or overseas, who has rendered exceptional services to the Institute's educational mission in particular, or to the direct marketing profession in general. Fellowship is the Institute's way of recognising this endeavour and achievement on behalf of the direct marketing profession.

Huw Davis, European Managing Director of EHS Brann Discovery, was presented with his award as IDM Educator of the Year. Each year, the Institute recognises the outstanding contribution of one individual - someone who has rendered exceptional service to the Institute's educational activities.

The awards were made at the IDM Annual Lunch, held at the Millennium Hotel in London's Mayfair on 30 January. Guest speaker at the event was General Charles C. Krulak USMC (RET.), Chief Executive Officer of MBNA Europe and Senior Vice Chairman of MBNA America Bank.
