IDM appoints BSD Marketing for new e-mail alert service

Released 21 November 2002: 21 November 2001: the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) has chosen BSD Marketing's software to power its new email alert service for members. The new service enables members to elect to receive updates on new content added to the IDM's website, at a frequency and on the subjects of their choice.

On signing up, members can customise their e-mail alert profile. They can choose to receive alerts on any of nine topics relating to the wide range of direct and interactive marketing resources provided by the IDM's content rich website at http://www.theidm.com/.

Neil Morris M IDM, Deputy Managing Director at the IDM says, "Both time and knowledge are precious commodities in today's marketplace. We have introduced this new email alert service in recognition of that fact. The service acts like an 'always on' personalised search engine and inbox editor for members, feeding them with the information they have requested—from the moment it becomes available."

Caroline Robertson M IDM, Membership Director at the IDM adds, "The new service enhances the IDM's established tradition of keeping its members up-to-date with the latest news and best practice in direct and interactive marketing. By adding an automated personalised service we can now feed them the specific information they value at a frequency of their choice."

When content is posted to the IDM website, members who have signed up to receive alerts on that subject are sent an e-mail alerting them of the new content, with a link to the relevant web page. Members can choose to receive their e-mails as each new item is posted, or in weekly or monthly batches.
