Those who knew Barrie knew him not only as a consummate professional but a gracious and engaging person. As Chairman of the IDM he reformed and streamlined the IDM Trust, bringing in many younger members. His commitment to the IDM and Education are unquestionable.

He leaves a wife and two children.

IDM Managing Director Derek Holder says: “Everyone who met Barrie was impressed and liked him. In meetings he listened carefully and when he spoke everyone would respect his opinions. As a friend I’ve known him for over 20 years. No-one is irreplaceable, but in Barrie’s case I am not so sure.”
