David was named IDM Educator of the Year 2010 at the Institute’s annual graduation ceremony in London this afternoon. It was an award already planned this year in recognition of David’s exceptional contribution to direct and digital marketing education, but today it was accepted posthumously by his wife Melanie.

David Hughes was an exceptional digital marketer of over 15 years experience and had long been a much-loved and respected tutor on IDM qualifications and training courses.

Presenting the award, IDM Managing Director, Derek Holder said:
“Not only was David a charming man and a true professional, but he was also a brilliant teacher. He loved teaching and he excelled at it, coaching and motivating hundreds of our students with his witty and amusing style. Despite his illness, he was an inspiration to all at the IDM and for the hundreds of students he taught.”

Almost 400 marketers graduated with an IDM qualification today, many of whom were taught by David. They and many others who knew him have posted comments on a dedicated memorial page here.
