IDM goes digital
This week the IDM revealed its brand new identity and new name: The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing.
The new branding was launched at the IDM B2B Annual Conference to over 300 senior marketers. The reaction at the conference – and from IDM members – has been extremely positive. The bright colours are seen as giving the IDM a fresher, more contemporary image while the name change firmly puts the IDM at the forefront of digital training.
Why did the IDM decide to change?
A year ago the IDM trustees and board members met to discuss the future. They recognised every business needs to constantly change and it was time for the IDM to redefine its purpose and market relevance given the rapidly changing marketing technologies. Equally, the IDM business model has dramatically changed over the past five years with 60% of our business now being digital marketing.
Our brand needed to change to reflect the fresh, forward-thinking approach the IDM has always maintained over the past 25 years. Our philosophy has always been to develop the highest possible standards of best practice across our qualifications and training. We have earned a reputation that all our training and qualifications provide up to the minute, practical advice reflecting real-world commercial experience. Over this time we have built a world-class faculty of expert speakers – all of whom are renowned practitioners in their own fields. Indeed our promise is: “What we deliver in the classroom you can apply in the workplace the next day”.
This philosophy continues into the next phase of the IDM’s growth.
Given the impact of digital technologies on marketing and the changes to the IDM business model it is imperative the IDM as an organisation reflects the new values and priorities of the marketing profession. A name change to The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing is a clear indication to the marketplace of our new positioning as the only government approved institute for digital marketing. We will retain the shorthand version of IDM, given the brand's 25 year heritage, the 'D' representing both direct and digital.
We hope you like the changes we have made. And while thanking wholeheartedly all of you who have ever attended an IDM training course or event, studied an IDM qualification, attended our advisory council meetings, tutored or spoken for us, taken up membership, sponsorship, patronage or recommended us to your colleagues and contacts, we’d really like it if you’d help us tell the world.
So, have a browse of our website, watch a few videos, try a few course demos, meet the team and read the reviews. Then, tell us what you think. And share it with your colleagues!
