IDM honours five for outstanding contribution to marketing profession

Released 12 February 2007: The IDM has awarded its highest honour, an Honorary Fellowship, to four leading marketers in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the direct and digital profession. A further, academic award was presented to the 2007 IDM Educator of the Year.

The awards were presented today by Sir Martin Sorrell and Sir Keith Mills at the IDM's 20th anniversary Annual Lunch. Those presented with Honorary Fellowships were: Steve Harrison, Founder and Creative Director, Harrison Troughton Wunderman; Mike Tildesley, Marketing Director, Acquisition & Retention, RBS Insurance; Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO, WPP Group and, posthumously, Adam Novak, recently deceased former Managing Director, Royal Mail Media Markets. Educator of the Year 2007 went to Rod Humphreys, Senior Lecturer, Manchester Metropolitan University.

Introducing the awards, Sir Keith Mills said: “All of this year’s award recipients are truly deserving, having rendered, through their endeavour and achievement, exceptional service, either to the direct and digital marketing profession as a whole, or to the IDM’s education programme in particular.”

Presenting the late Adam Novak’s award, Sir Martin Sorrell commented: “Adam was a great character… His genuine, personal desire to raise standards and to help young people succeed in their own careers was never more apparent than through the enthusiasm and energy he displayed as an IDM Trustee.

Those newly awarded an IDM Honorary Fellowship join the IDM’s roll of honour, which includes such illustrious names as Drayton Bird, Lester Wunderman and Sir Keith Mills.
