Bristol's SS Great Britain is the backdrop for the official launch of IDM West, the newly-formed regional Board of the Institute of Direct Marketing. The event will bring together key members of the marketing community for an evening of information sharing and best practice exchange on September 18.

Board Chair Allan Freeman says, "The SS Great Britain in Bristol's harbour is the ideal venue for this special event. It is an enduring symbol of enterprise, endeavour and innovation and when it was launched, like Concorde, provided a tremendous boost to the spirit of commerce in the West."

Among the highlights of the evening is guest speaker Andrew Smith, Sales Director of Vodafone, who will be sharing his global overview of the future of direct and interactive marketing.

The aim of IDM West is to echo these themes by developing a new sense of community amongst direct marketers in the region, through developing pertinent events and initiatives with a strong regional accent.

The Board brings together regional direct marketing experience and expertise with academic insight from organisations like Bristol Business School, Royal Mail and Cornhill Direct.

The launch is expected to begin a lively debate in which direct and interactive marketers will be actively encouraged to exchange their views and insights on key issues facing marketers today. It will kick-start a series of regional initiatives delivering a researched events programme, on-going networking opportunities and developing greater synergy with the local business and academic communities.

The event starts at 6.30 pm on Thursday 18 September aboard the SS Great Britain, Great Western Dockyard, Bristol.

Tickets cost £35+ VAT for IDM and DMA members and £40 + VAT for non-members. The ticket price includes refreshments and a tour of the ship.
