IDM Launches first CPD scheme for DM
Released 06 December 2004: IDM invites registrations for direct marketing's first CPD Scheme
The IDM has today issued a call for registrations for direct marketing's first Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme, which launches in January 2005.
The scheme, which is open to all IDM members and IDM graduates, is the first of its kind specifically for direct, data and digital marketers.
As well as encompassing the IDM's own training provision it will recognise suitable qualifications and training courses provided by other marketing institutes and academic centres, as well as self-directed learning, personal development and studies.
To participate in the scheme direct, data and digital marketers need to apply for a record card. A threshold of 35 hours' training per annum is required with the first CPD award requiring two consecutive years' professional development. Thereafter awards will be given annually on meeting the criteria.
Neil Morris, Deputy Managing Director of the IDM says, "Amongst our members and graduates are individuals and companies who are keenly committed to continuing professional development, and this scheme will help them demonstrate and receive reward for that commitment. Additionally there are those who recognise the benefits of regular professional development, but find it hard to devote the time. For them this scheme will provide the necessary momentum and motivation to maintain some sort of planned progression."
"The scheme will benefit individuals and organisations alike since it will raise the game for all direct marketing practitioners and employers." He continues.
The IDM's CPD Scheme launches in January 2005. Interested individuals are invited to register at www.theidm.com/cpd.
