IDM launches programme of strategic links between academic researchers and the marketing and business community
Released 19 September 2002: The IDM has announced a programme of strategic links between academic researchers and the business community.
The initiative launches on 16 October when the IDM hosts the conference Marketing in the Interactive Age featuring presentations from internationally renowned university research groups including Cranfield, London Business School and the Universities of Bath and Nottingham.
Attendance is by invitation only and restricted to senior academics and marketers interested in deepening their understanding of the changes affecting early 21st Century consumers and markets in the UK.
Director of Graduate Services at the IDM, Kate Wilkinson explains, "In its role as promoter of best practice throughout the marketing profession, the IDM has set about a programme whereby senior marketers and top university research groups are brought together for their mutual long-term benefit. Marketing in the Digital Age has been created as the launch pad for a series of on-going initiatives."
The conference is being chaired by Peter Mouncey, Director of Research at the IDM and speakers are leading academics from London Business School and the Universities of Bath, Birmingham, Cardiff, Cranfield, Leeds and Nottingham. They will present critical issues and specialist viewpoints. Business perspectives will be given by speakers from TBWAGGT Direct and Quant Marketing.
There will also be a plenary session where all delegates can respond to, and discuss, the issues raised during the day.
The one-day conference takes place on 16 October, at Arundel House, Victoria Embankment, London. It will be the starting point for a programme of events and activities. The IDM's long-term intention is to create a forum for stimulating debate, exchanging ideas, identifying priorities for future research and exploring possible solutions.
