IDM launches recruitment drive on national tour
Released 10 November 1999: The Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) is intent on recruiting the best graduates when it tours the nation's universities during October and November. The tour will promote the IDM's graduate apprenticeship programme (GAP) and direct marketing as a career to graduates from all disciplines.
GAP Manager Kate Woolf says, "There are so many opportunities in the profession and now is the time to seize them. The advent of e-commerce through the Internet presents vast scope for techno-friendly entrants with creativity and drive."
Spending on direct marketing in the UK currently exceeds £7.4 billion. It is estimated that approximately 50,000 people work in direct marketing in the UK, and that about 5,000 jobs are created in the industry each year.
The GAP roadshow will visit Bath, Glasgow and all the major universities in between.
