IDM overhauls digital and data categories for 2009

Released 19 November 2008: In order to reflect the enormous impact of digital and data on current marketing practices, the IDM has given a complete overhaul to the Digital and Data sections of its 2009 Business Performance Awards, sponsored for the second year by data value management specialist DQM Group.

The number of awards within the digital section has been increased to six and the Institute is now inviting entries to this category that demonstrate marketing excellence in: Search Engine Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Mobile Marketing, Digital Innovation, Online Display Advertising and Best use of Email Marketing.

BPA judge and Managing Director of Awards sponsor, DQM Group, Adrian Gregory explains:

"As we approach 2009 it is no longer appropriate to judge, say, an email campaign against a piece of search marketing simply because they both sit under the digital umbrella. The digital discipline has matured to a point where it has its own distinct sub-disciplines, all presenting their own challenges and where good work deserves to be recognised with its own specific award. With respect to data it has always been fundamental to success in DM but we were keen to add a best new products category to reflect the innovation that is taking place in data. We’re delighted to be supporting the IDM Business Performance Awards once again, which promote best practise and share our objective to help raise standards in the data and DM industries."

The awards, sponsored once again by DQM Group and now in their 11th year, are now open for entry. They are comprised of the top tier Diamond Award – for the marketing programme judged to have had the most outstanding impact on overall business performance, and up to 12 individual category awards for excellence in the specific disciplines of direct, data and digital marketing.
