At “What's on the minds of today's CMOs?” on October 20, technology giant IBM will launch the results of a significant piece of new research into the challenges confronting today’s most senior marketing executives and how they are responding to them.

The event, sponsored by international multichannel b2b marketing agency, Cyance, was initiated by the IDM’s B2B Marketing Council and will be delivered by Council member Pete Jakob, Brand Manager, IBM UK and Ireland. Jakob will give IDM members and guests a first and detailed sight of the findings from the 2011 IBM Global CMO Study.

He comments:
“This study is significant for its sheer size and extraordinary detail. It’s the best and most comprehensive research that really drills down into how ready today’s CMOs are for change, the information sources that shape their strategies and what, going forward, will be important to them for both personal and professional success”

Mike Housley, Managing Director of event sponsor, Cyance, adds:
“We are living in challenging times for marketers. The speed of adoption of new technologies and customer interaction options such as smart phones and social networking is continuing to accelerate. To maintain a competitive market position it's more important than ever that organisations understand and utilise all relevant new marketing tools. We are delighted to again be associated with the IDM and the launch of this major research study from IBM.”

The first of its kind and size, the study involved over 1700 in-depth, face-to-face interviews with Chief Marketing Officers from organisations of varying sizes and from a wide range of sectors and regions. Its purpose was to explore how C-level marketers are responding to the evolving scope and needs of today’s marketing

It covers:

  • the key trends with the potential to transform the marketing discipline
  • how CMOs are responding to the increasing influence of social media, big data and the escalating demands of more knowledgeable, empowered customers
  • how they are managing the digital transformation that is changing the way people communicate and interact?

“What's on the minds of today's CMOs?” takes place in London’s Bloomsbury on October 20 and costs just £19.50 to attend – or free for IDM members. Find out more about the event at theidm.com/cmo and more on the IDM B2B Marketing Council at theidm.com/b2bcouncil
