Director of Graduate Services at the IDM, Kate Wilkinson comments, "The entries are of the high standard we have become accustomed to over the years. The next generation of direct marketers have risen to the tough challenge. UK students have combined research skills and understanding with ingenuity and vision to resolve a genuine direct marketing problem. We look forward to discovering who has made the final stages of the competition."
Now in its seventh year, the IDM Student Direct Marketing Competition is endorsed by the IDM and sponsored each year by a principal direct marketing agency along with one of its high profile clients. Other projects within the IDM Education Department's portfolio include the IDM Certificate in Direct Marketing Principles, the student career website www.think-direct.com and the careers roadshow, which visits 20 top UK universities each year.
The ten finalists of the 2004 competition will be announced on 1 July before their entries are handed to the sponsors for final judging. The winning team will be announced on 23 July at an awards ceremony in Shakespeare's Globe. There is a prize of £1,200 for the winning team and a trip to the USA DMA Conference for the supervisor.
Next year's competition will be launched to students in September, the IDM is currently looking for a sponsor for this project.
