IDM supports East of England Network’s inaugural event

Released 05 March 2001: The Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM), Europe’s fastest-growing marketing organisation, announced that it is supporting the inaugural event of the East of England Network for Interactive Marketing. The event, called Key Success Factors in Interactive Marketing, launches the new network and will incorporate presentations from world-class speakers Marcus Bicknell, European President of CMG Information Services (which operates AltaVista), and Professor Keith Fletcher, from the School of Management at the University of East Anglia.

Professor Derek Holder, Managing Director of the IDM, says, “We are delighted to be supporting this event, which addresses a crucial issue for industry at large. The heavy losses in so many of the high-profile dot-coms resulted largely from a limited understanding of direct marketing online, better known as interactive marketing. By meeting the topic head-on, business leaders in the east of England can expect to become some of tomorrow’s success stories as the second wave of new-economy companies is formed.”

Professor Keith Fletcher adds, “Having the support of the IDM serves to underwrite how important this new network is. Like the IDM, we recognise the importance of interactive marketing in modern business management. The role of the East of England Network will be to communicate that importance and then support local businesses as they acquire the related knowledge and skills, ensuring that the business community in the east of England has a global reputation for excellence—now and in the future.”

Key Success Factors in Interactive Marketing takes place at Dunston Hall in Norwich on Thursday, 29 March between 18:00 and 20:30. Tickets (including buffet) cost £55. To reserve a place, call Terry Kendrick on +44 (0)1603 593217/628818 or send a cheque, payable to University of East Anglia, to Terry Kendrick, School of Management, University of East Anglia, Norwich NR4 7TJ.
