IDM's GAP graduates celebrate their success
Released 21 August 2000: The Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) celebrated the ongoing success of its graduate apprenticeship programme (GAP) with the graduation of its ten latest 'GAPpers'. Their successful completion of the two-year programme was honoured at a special lunch in the private dining room at Quaglinos.
Among the graduates were Katie Brewer, Account Manager at MBO, Mark Pomfret, Account Manager at Joshua, and Rosie Guy, Account Manager at Lowe Direct. The graduates attended the lunch along with representatives of their employer-sponsors, who included Elly Woolston, Deputy Chairman at BHWG, and Peter Sieves, International Business Director at Impiric.
Speaking at the lunch, Professor Derek Holder, Managing Director of the IDM, said "The Internet has instigated a revolution in marketing of a size and speed not witnessed by the profession in more than 40 years. Direct marketing methods underpin successful e-commerce, and these graduates have a unique opportunity not only to become leaders in direct marketing but also the wider online marketing business. By keeping abreast of technology and its many applications, each one has the chance to develop an impressive and influential career."
This year's graduates are the third group to complete the GAP. A total of 29 students have graduated from the scheme, 16 are studying for it at present and a further 13 will begin the programme in September.
