IDM's Hothouse Graduates succeed in job market
Released 01 November 2004: Twenty of the thirty graduates who completed the IDM's inaugural Graduate Fast Track programme have already secured jobs suggesting the knowledge and insights delivered by the programme have given its graduates the edge in the high competitive entry-level job market.
The Graduate Fast Track, which is currently being promoted throughout the UK's universities for 2005 following the success of the launch programme, handpicks top graduates from all areas of academic study and prepares them for a career in direct marketing.
Students have been placed by the IDM with Tullo Marshall Warren, TEQUILALondon, Publicis Dialog, EHS Brann, HFC Bank and archibald ingall stretton amongst others. Additionally positions for the remainder are under discussion.
Janice Pickard, Graduate Programme Manager at the IDM says, "We are delighted that our graduates have done so well in the search for jobs and that the programme overall has been such a success. By bridging the gap between academic study and the real world of work we have brought about clear benefits for employers and job seekers alike. As we build on our success in 2005 and beyond I am sure the IDM Graduate Fast Track will soon be recognised as the conduit to the profession for the UK's brightest grads."
Lisa Weekes, HR officer for TEQUILALondon, which has employed two Graduate Fast Track graduates so far comments, "When it comes to recruiting graduates the interview and induction stages typically involve educating applicants in the workings of the industry and the dynamics of agency life. Thanks to the IDM Graduate Fast Track we have been presented with applicants who have a clear understanding of their role, how it fits into the agency structure and its wider relation to the clients and suppliers we work with."
Jonathan Miles-Prouten, IDM Fast Track graduate and newly-appointed Account Executive at TEQUILALondon adds, "To go straight from University through the Fast track and then joining TEQUILALondon has been a rapid and smooth entry to the marketing profession. The Graduate Fast Track gave me a competitive edge at the interview stage and has already proved its worth. I would recommend it to any undergraduate completing this year with ambitions to work in direct marketing."
The 2005 IDM Graduate Fast Track is scheduled for June next year. For more information contact Janice Pickard on 020 8614 0212 or e-mail janicepickard@theidm.com.
