Links of London to disclose its first mCommerce statistics at IDM event
Released 01 November 2011: A case study-led mobile marketing event from the IDM will reveal results from Links of London’s first venture into mCommerce, along with a detailed look at high profile mobile and app marketing campaigns from Heineken, Dorling Kindersley and Nike.
Mobile and app marketing. What’s working for leading UK brands?, runs on the evening of 23 November and features IDM Digital Council members Caroline Rolfe, Head of Online at Links of London and Daniel Rosen, Managing Director, AKQA Mobile. The event takes place in London’s Bloomsbury and is sponsored by global B2B marketing data and services provider, mardevdm2.
During her presentation, Caroline Rolfe will give results-backed details of the Links of London mobile strategy, describe the launch of the luxury brand’s mCommerce site and apps, and reveal why mobile, a very recent addition to the marketing mix, is now integral to overall marketing plans. Daniel Rosen will share a wide range of AKQA client case studies to deliver a state-of-the art briefing on how apps are being used effectively in UK marketing today.
IDM Digital Council Chair, Steve Kemish comments:
"With more mobile phones in use on the planet than toothbrushes, there is no doubt that mobile is the most talked-about area of digital marketing right now, and marketers should be acting now to track its growth and explore how they can use it from here on in. This event will showcase brands at the forefront of mobile marketing, giving insight, advice and inspiration on just how to harness and make the most of this exciting new space."
Zina Manda, director of mardevdm2 and event sponsor, adds:
“In the B2B world, mobile devices are often the first point of entry for an email message, social media touch point or web search. So it’s critical that we help educate B2B marketers about the best ways to incorporate mobile channels into their overall marketing strategy. That’s why we believe in the value of IDM events and support their role and message in the market.”
A recent study commissioned by Barclays Corporate found that almost 63% of all mobile owners currently use their device during the online purchase process and reports that mCommerce would grow by 55% in the next five years. By 2021, according to the study, it could be worth £19bn. Further research by UTalkMarketing, found that 32% of under 35s will use their mobile device for Christmas shopping this year, while almost nine in ten people said they would shop via their mobile more often if their retailer of choice had an app for purchasing goods.
