PepsiCo President hosts first IDM mid-summer members’ evening:
Released 02 June 2005: The IDM has added a new breed of event to its event portfolio and has persuaded Martin Glenn, President of PepsiCo UK and Ireland to take the stage at London’s Globe Theatre as the inaugural speaker. Glenn will be talking frankly about his successful career to date, divulging many secrets from his hard-earned experience, including how he took Walkers Crisps to the number one position as the UK’s fastest growing consumer goods brand.
Glenn currently holds the title of the UK’s Most Influential Marketer (Marketing Magazine, July 2004) and is perhaps most renowned for introducing the Gary Lineker "No more Mr Nice Guy" advertising campaign for Walkers. He promises a presentation that is both candid and stimulating, revealing the Walkers story to be much more than just a high profile advertising campaign; rather a triumph of product excellence, innovation, motivation and integration. He will explore:
- how to define a communication strategy
- creating a successful advertising campaign
- the importance of consistency in marketing
- secrets of successful sales promotion
- how to create high performance teams
- corporate and social responsibility including the health debate.
Martin will also give us insights into the making of his digital video book The Best Job in the World which charts the Walkers success story and gives a rare personal view of the business processes and marketing insights behind Walkers crisps. The book, the first in The Shoulders of Giants TM series by Compton House Publishing is a unique way of delivering the latest business insights in an efficient and accessible format. The first IDM mid-summer members’ evening will take place on 4 July from 6.30 pm. Still with all the hallmarks of the IDM’s long-respected events programme – influential speakers, thought-provoking subject matter, unparalleled networking opportunities – this mid-summer event, as befits the season, will add a more relaxed element to the proceedings. The networking will transform into a social evening with a distinct party atmosphere.
About Martin Glenn
Martin Glenn is President of the recently created PepsiCo UK company; a merger of Walkers Snack Foods, Pepsi Cola, Tropicana and Quaker Foods. He joined Walkers in 1992 as New Product Development Director, where he introduced the Gary Lineker advertising campaign and launched Doritos Tortilla Chip Brand. He became Company President in 1998.
