Professor Malcolm McDonald to present IDM Annual Lecture 2003
Released 24 February 2003: Professor Malcolm McDonald, who for 30 years has been the UK's pre-eminent academic authority on marketing, is to present this year's IDM Annual Lecture, sponsored by Mail Marketing International, on Tuesday 18 March in London.
Professor McDonald's presentation marks his departure from the world of business and his academic life at Cranfield School of Management. In his lecture he will be asking if marketing will be in safe hands under the custodianship of the next generation of marketers.
McDonald's presentation will reflect on marketing's history, analysing the challenges faced by all organisations. He will describe how bad companies and excellent companies have responded to these challenges. Drawing on the salient lessons, McDonald will describe what he believes defines world-class marketing. He will examine the future of marketing communications and offer his vision of marketing's likely role and influence at the top of the corporate agenda.
Professor Derek Holder, Managing Director of the IDM says, "We are delighted that Malcolm McDonald is speaking - not simply because he is a true all-round authority on marketing, but also because the timing could not be more fitting. Anyone with the intention of being involved with marketing over the next thirty years would do well to attend this lecture, which is a real one-off."
The 2003 Lecture takes place on Tuesday 18 March at the Cavendish Conference Centre from 18:30. Tickets are £45 + VAT for IDM Members and £50 + VAT for non-member guests. To find out more, visit www.theidm.com/events or call 020 8614 0275.
