Record year for digital in IDM Business Performance Awards 2008

Released 01 May 2008: The Institute of Direct Marketing today announced the finalists for the 2008 IDM Business Performance Awards, sponsored this year by data value management company, DQM Group. The 2008 Awards have seen a particularly strong showing for digital, with a record level of high quality entries across the digital categories.

In the running for the top-tier Diamond Award are (in alphabetical order):

  • Abbey / Tequila\London
  • BT Business / OgilvyOne Worldwide
  • Haven Holidays / Latitude Group
  • IBM / Connection2 Ltd
  • RSPCA / Mike Colling & Co
  • Thomson / WDMP Communications
  • Virgin Media / Rapier

From this list of finalists, the judges will award the much-coveted Diamond to the direct marketing programme judged to have made the most exceptional strategic contribution to overall business success. A Silver and Bronze award will also be given, and, if the judges deem it appropriate, further programmes may be awarded Highly Commended status.

In the remaining 12 sub-categories, the Facets, 20 finalists have been selected out of a possible 24. Each award within the Facets will recognise excellence in a specific marketing discipline within either DIRECT, DATA or DIGITAL marketing. A winner and/or runner-up are usually awarded, unless, within a particular category, the entries failed to meet the judges’ high standards.

Final award winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner on the evening of 29 May at an IDM BPA Gala Dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel in London’s Kensington. The presentations will be made by guest speaker, comedian and Comedy Store stalwart, Paul Thorne. Tickets to the event can be purchased online at www.bpa.theidm.com.

In 2007, the BPA Diamond winners were BBC TV Licensing and their agency Proximity, for their TV Licensing Students Campaign. Previous winners have included AA Insurance, Gala Bingo, Legal & General, NSPCC, Saab Great Britain, Automobile Association, M&G Investments and Goldfish Card.
