The Gala Group wins IDM’s first diamond award

Released 12 May 2005: National Bingo brand Gala Group and its agencies Perspektiv Marketing and ISD Computer Services have become the first winners for the IDM’s new marketing award – the IDM Diamond Business Performance Award. They beat tough competition from The Department of Works and Pensions and Draft London and PHD Confidential, and BT and OgilvyOne who were awarded silver and bronze respectively.

In all eight entries made it to the finals of the award’s top tier “Diamond” category.

Announcing the winner at the IDM Business Performance Awards Gala Dinner this evening George Smith said “The judges were most impressed with this entry which was a powerful direct marketing initiative that cleverly integrated with the process and infrastructure of the organisation. The system enabled local managers to react at speed to the market and incorporated a powerful use of technology from the database right through to digital print”.

This year the IDM Diamond Business Performance Awards, which are sponsored by Blue Sheep, underwent a major redesign to align itself more closely with the institute’s new positioning. The new Diamond Awards recognise and reward the total business achievement of strategic direct and interactive marketing programmes. The newly introduced facets of direct, data and digital each recognise marketing effectiveness in a particular discipline.
