Together, the agencies will give the 30 successful Summer School applicants a unique perspective on what it’s like to work agency-side in the direct and digital profession, and will give the students the opportunity to work on real case studies from their client portfolio.

The IDM's annual student Summer School aims to provide a stepping stone to jobs in direct, data and digital marketing. Each year, the Institute receives some 200 applications to attend the programme and conducts a rigorous boot-camp style selection process to ensure that the 20-30 brightest and best candidates go through to the free-to-attend week-long course at the IDM HQ in south west London.

Sam Williams-Thomas, Managing Director at OgilvyOne comments:
“It’s a real privilege to be involved with the IDM’s student Summer School. The fantastic work that the Institute does to make sure that we keep a continuous stream of bright graduates coming into direct marketing is still one of the profession’s best-kept secrets. It shouldn’t be. And more organisations should be coming on board to ensure the IDM can keep up the good work!”

Jamie Longstreet, Graduate Account Executive, Rapp and graduate of the 2010 IDM Summer School adds:
“The IDM Summer School taught me so much in such a short space of time, it was also great fun! I am still in touch with many of the other grads who attended it, many of whom, like myself have ended up in the exciting marketing and advertising field. I have no doubt that without the help of everyone at the IDM I would not be at such a fantastic agency, working with some of the world’s biggest and best brands.”

Summer School applications are still being taken by the IDM, but are due to close on Friday February 25. Interested students should visit: www.urthebrand.co.uk/summer-school.aspx to apply.

Additional information about this and about other initiatives from the IDM’s ongoing Education Programme can be found at the Institute’s dedicated website for students www.urthebrand.co.uk. Organisations client, or agency-side, who would like to become involved in the Programme should email janicepickard@theidm.com.
