IDM Graduation Ceremony 2015
For those who attended, we hope you enjoyed your Graduation Ceremony. It's an achievement that can never be overstated and one of which you should be justifiably proud. Keynote Speakers for this year:
In 2005, James Eder founded website Student Beans aged 22, alongside his brother Michael. 10 years later Student Beans has gone from an idea to brand recognised globally for its student offers, digital student ID and discounts. Now known as The Beans Group, the business also encompasses Hexjam, a leading lifestyle website for 16-24s, reaching millions of students every month and Voxburner, a youth insights consultancy. With Voxburner most widely know for it's research & events arm running The Youth 100 & Youth Marketing Strategy in London & New York. The company employs a team of over 40 people and continues to recruit and grow with offices in London & Birmingham. The Beans Group was named Digital Business of the Year 2013 at the National Business Awards.
Most recently, James founded Camden Cluster an initiative to bring local businesses and people together in Camden Town, as well as FriendlyFriday a movement and not-for-profit to get the world talking. Based on his experience and learnings, James is a passionate & frequent international speaker at conferences, schools and universities on subjects including marketing, entrepreneurship and building a brand.
Nick Hutton, Hon F IDM
Currently a business and marketing consultant having recently set up StoneHutt Business Solutions and is Chair of the IDM Exam Board. Nick's relationship with the IDM spans over 30 years, from the early days of the Direct Marketing Centre at Kinston University with its founder Professor Derek Holder and for many years as an External Examiner for the IDM. Nick's marketing experience started at the Automobile Association where he attended the UK's very first Direct Marketing course and pioneered direct marketing for new member acquisition and membership retention. He held senior marketing positons in the retail sector with Mothercare, Habitat and BhS and for 16 years was MD of what became one of the most profitable mail order suppliers into the educational sector. In recent years he was a partner in a new business start-up and devotes much time working with the NHS in North Hampshire, which even included researching and writing a Business Plan for a local GP practice!
Educator of the Year:
Shane Redding Hon F IDM, MA Cantab, Managing Director, Think Direct
Shane is an independent consultant with over 25 years international business to business direct marketing experience. Shane provides strategic direct and digital marketing advice and practical training to both end users and DM suppliers; clients include ITV plc., Telefonica, the Institute of Directors and Royal Mail. Specialising in data, databases and analysis, Shane enjoys helping large and small businesses use integrated marketing to significantly improve the bottom line.
In addition to her consultancy business, Shane also holds a number of non executive directorships and board advisory roles including Livingstone Partners, Cyance, Webalytix and Lead Forensics.
Shane has an honorary fellowship of the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing. She also lectures worldwide on topics including CRM, lead generation, and B2B analysis; as well as international marketing. She is the past chair of the IDM’s b2b council, industry roles have included vice chair of FEDMA, UK DMA board director, and sales and marketing director of Mardev (a Reed Elsevier company).
