Each year, the GRT partners with the DMA Awards to open the DMA Breakthrough Award to individuals aspiring to break into the creative industry. 

The DMA Breakthrough Award gives students the chance to:
 
  • Build their portfolios with real client work for the first time
  • Get feedback and advice from creative directors
  • Win a major marketing industry award for the first time

The 2017 brief:

2017’s brief was provided by Barclaycard and judged by some of the country’s top Creative Directors. The team of Kate Wells, Rosie Clarke and Roberto Cutrera from Birmingham City University were crowned gold winners at the DMA Awards ceremony, joining David Mitchell on stage to collect their certificates as well as taking home a £1,000 team prize.

Lena Sakura from Edinburgh College claimed silver place winning £500, with Will Heldt and Evan Gilsenan from Leeds Arts College taking bronze place and £250.
