The certificate is designed to:

  • Give you the opportunity to gain a professionally recognised qualification whilst at university. On successful completion you can use the honorific IDM Cert DDM
  • Provide you with the knowledge that will help you hit the ground running in your first marketing job
  • Give you a head-start on your professional learning journey
  • Recognise the depth of teaching in direct and digital marketing at universities which are approved to take the exam and raise their status within the profession
  • Contribute to maintaining professional standards of direct and digital marketing teaching within universities

Who should attend

The IDM Certificate in Direct and Digital Marketing exam can only be taken by students studying an IDM accredited module at university.

To qualify to take the the Certificate exam, you must complete an IDM accredited marketing module at your university/college. You will then be eligible to sit the exam which is written, marked and awarded by the IDM.

Where do I take the exam?

You can take the exam at any of the following accredited study centres: University of Plymouth, Kingston College, Liverpool John Moores, Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen Business School), University of Southampton, Regents University, Oxford Brookes, University of South Wales, University of Greenwich, Northumbria University (Newcastle Business School), Edinburgh Napier University and Bournemouth University.

What is the cost of the exam?

£100 plus VAT.

Will I get an honorific if I pass?

Of course, you will be able to use the honorific Cert DDM after your name..

What grade do I need to achieve a pass?

You will need to achieve a result of at least 60% to pass the exam.

What happens if I fail?

A resit date will be in December (the same year you take your exam) and you will be advised of this with your results letter. The cost to re-sit the exam is £50+VAT. The re-sit must be taken the same year.

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you cancel more than 14 days prior to the examination: 20% cancellation charge, less than 14 days: 100% cancellation charge

What happens if I am unable to sit the exam on the day?

If you are ill or have a bereavement which means you are unable to sit the exam you must inform the IDM as soon as possible on 020 8614 0255 or email qualifications@theidm.com. You must send a letter to the IDM with evidence for your not being able to sit the exam.
